An exciting opportunity has become available for a full time highly skilled, enthusiastic and motivated ward manager to lead in our brand new IAAU and Same Day Emergency care unit at DPoW.
The unit is currently undergoing construction with handover estimated Jan 2024. We will be transitioning in the new year to a perhaps built area were we will be working closely with the Emergency Department.
The applicant should be a senior nurse with at least 2 years experience at band 6 level or above. The successful candidate will be able to drive forward the skills of the team within both areas, provide visible and compassionate leadership and demonstrate professional credibility at all times.
This is a demanding yet rewarding role. You must demonstrate excellent communicate skills, initiate drive and have the resilience to lead a diverse clinical team. You will be supported by a senior management team that will tailor an intensive support package to suit your individual needs
IAAU is a busy unit, acting as a main stakeholder in operational flow. The unit clinically manages a wide range of patients including medical, surgical, gynecology, ENT and orthopedic patients. On completion of the new department we will be also be able to care for more unwell patients with small number of cardiac monitors.
Main duties of the job
As ward leader you must adhere to the Trusts values of kindness courage and respect, promoting a positive attitude at all times . You must be an excellent communicator with an outstanding ability to critically think and prioritise work load. Duties include workforce management , effective rostering, undertaking clinical audit, staff performance and wellbeing management, training and development, stock ordering, incident investigation, accountability for improving standards of care in line with quality assurance tools and attend regular meetings with Heads of Nursing.
